Talk about stealing somebody's thunder

            Percy Jackson has the worst of luck when it comes to school. Since kindergarten he has been moving around through private schools after being kicked out. His ADHD and dyslexia does not help the matter either. After a confrontation with his pre algebra teacher during a class field trip Percy is sent to a special summer school with other kids like him. Children of the Greek gods.

          In "The Lightning Thief" Rick Riordan depicts a world where the children of Greek gods and mortals train at "Camp Half-Blood" to combat the monsters of Greek mythology that are all to real. Packaging Greek mythology to a form where children and adults alike can enjoy makes this book a quick yet enjoyable read.'

        It is not hard to get into the book. With chapter headings that peak interest to the content of the chapter and quick pacing a quick reader can blow through this book within 48 hours. The plot development and character dynamics make this book connect with the readers in a way that pulls them in.

     Young readers will enjoy this book for its action and characters that they can identify with. Older readers can enjoy the Greek mythology and social commentary that is visible through the book.

     At first glance this 400 page book looks like a medium length read, but after seeing the word size and margins this book is closer to being 250 to 300 pages. This makes the book a quick light read even for people with busy schedules.
